Teacher asks Parent to Chaperone a Field Trip: Scene 1
Teacher: Good morning, Mr. Mulaney. I hope you're doing well today.
Parent: Good morning, Ms. Cruz. Yes, I'm doing great, thank you.
Teacher: That's great to hear. So, as you may know, we're taking our high school history students on a five-day field trip to Boston in the fall. We'll be leaving on October 16th and returning on the 20th.
Parent: Yes, my daughter told me about it. She's really excited to go.
Teacher: That's wonderful to hear. We have a lot planned for the student trip. We'll be visiting many historical sites, including the Freedom Trail, the USS Constitution Museum, the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum, and many more.
Parent: Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun. What else will they be doing while they're there?
Teacher: Well, we'll also be visiting some of Boston's famous colleges and universities, like Harvard and MIT. And of course, we'll be enjoying some of Boston's delicious seafood and exploring the city's vibrant culture.
Parent: It sounds like an amazing student group trip. So, what can I do to help?
Teacher: I was actually hoping you could chaperone the field trip. We need responsible adults to supervise the students, and I think you would be a great fit for the job.
Parent: I would love to help out. I'll make sure to clear my schedule for those days.
Teacher: That's great to hear, Mr. Mulaney. And speaking of keeping everyone connected, have you heard of the TravL app?
Parent: No, I haven't. What is it?
Teacher: The TravL app is a fantastic new mobile app built for student group travel. TravL will help us organize and manage the trip more efficiently while we’re on the go.
Parent: That sounds really useful. What kind of features are you talking about?
Teacher: Well, for starters, the mobile app has an interactive schedule feature that lets us easily see what activities are planned for each day. We can also customize it to add or remove activities as needed and those changes are instant on everyone’s phone.
Parent: That's really handy. What else does it do?
Teacher: Another great feature is the comprehensive roster. It lets us keep track of all the students, chaperones, and any other personnel involved in the trip.
Parent: Okay, that's definitely something we'll need. What about communication?
Teacher: The TravL app also has an integrated messaging feature that allows us to communicate with each other in real-time. This will be especially helpful in case of any emergencies or to explain last-minute changes to the schedule.
Parent: Oh, that's really important. And what about pictures? Will we be able to take and share photos of the trip?
Teacher: Yes, the app also has a photo gallery feature that lets us upload and share photos of the trip. This will be a great way to document our experiences and create lasting memories.
Parent: That all sounds really great. I'm definitely on board with using the TravL app.
Teacher: Another really cool feature of the app is for Parents who don’t chaperone. They can actually join in Parent Mode and see the schedule, receive and respond to messages from the trip leader or their child’s chaperone, and look at the pictures in the photo gallery.
Parent: Where has this app been all my life. As a parent, I’m used to getting a schedule by email right before my child leaves on their field trip and then no communication the entire week. That’s a really smart feature. I know that will bring peace of mind to parents whose kids might be traveling away from home for the first time.
Teacher: I'm glad to hear that, Mr. Mulaney. I'll send you an email with all the details on how to download and use the app - it’s really very simple. Thank you for agreeing to chaperone the trip. I know the students will appreciate your help.
Parent: It's my pleasure, Ms. Cruz. I'm really looking forward to the trip and being a part of it.
