Introducing the TravL App

What is the TravL App?
‍TravL App makes organizing and managing group trips simple. TravL is made for field trips, mission trips, incentive or corporate trips. Use it for single-day adventures, overnight trips, even overseas excursions. With the TravL App, everyone knows where they're supposed to be and when they're supposed to be there. All the information at your fingertips. Communicate with leaders, Chaperones, TravLers, even Parents back home. Simply create a trip, enter the itinerary, and send the invitation code to everyone attending. Now, the Schedule, Roster, Messaging, and Photos are all in one place right in the palm of every TravLer's hand.

‍Where did the idea for TravL come from?
‍I'm a GenX dad of 3 teen boys and I've chaperoned a lot of day-long and overnight student field trips. Recently, I chaperoned the annual overnight field trip to Nashville with 55 students, 10 parent chaperones, and 3 awesome teachers. Chaperones were given a piece of paper with the itinerary on it which we all folded up and put in our pockets. Any change to the schedule we pulled the paper out, marked out the old and scribbled in the new activity schedule and put it back into our pockets. Teachers were scrambling to get messages to specific chaperones or students - you know, parent texts them and says, "please make sure Harrison took his medicine.” After our bus got stuck in the mud at the restaurant we’d stopped at on our way home and we were delayed 2 hours those amazing teachers had to call the cell phones and home phones of every parent of each of the 50 student travelers. I knew there had to be a mobile solution to help organize and manage a field trip while on the go but couldn’t find one. I mentioned to the teachers that I knew this had to become a reality and they were thrilled. So, I quit my corporate job of 24 years, found an awesome designer and mobile app developer and got busy.

‍Who benefits by using the TravL app?
‍TravL app is designed to make the on-the-go experience of group trips awesome for four different users: Teachers, Chaperones, Students (we call them TravLers), and Parents, and believe me, they all benefit. Much of the work falls on the shoulders of Teachers to execute the trip and keep everything moving forward while also trying to enjoy the trip themselves. TravL makes it easy to keep up with everyone on the trip, to know which chaperone is responsible for which students. They can message chaperones or students or parents. Anyone or everyone. They can also make changes to the daily calendar and that change is updated immediately across all devices, Students and chaperones know where to be and when to be there. Another great feature and benefit to TravL app is allowing parents to 'come along' on the trip. It gives them joy and peace of mind at a time when their child is hundreds of miles away from home.
